About the writer – Thomas Caterer:

I am a screenwriter, film director, and writer of poems and short stories from the UK. I am based in beautiful Taiwan. I have previously lived in China, and Japan as well. I enjoy working in a variety of genres. Some recurring themes in my work include death positivity, consciousness, psychedelic experiences, freedom and oppression, and survival and compassion. I particularly enjoy works where humour can be found in strange, surreal, and dark places.

In 2016 I founded Yanagi Studios (https://yanagistudios.co.uk). In 2020 I founded Notepad Stories. I am very excited to see these projects grow, with input from other creatives!

In March 2025 I founded the Taipei Filmmaking Club. This group is intended to bring filmmakers together to work on creative projects, build a network of collaborators, and to establish a community in Taipei which is based on a mutual passion for filmmaking and storytelling.
